Actually, it is an Engineering that deals with Town planning, development control in macro view and house/ building planning, comfort of the dwellers and occupants, lighting, ventilation of building in each room in micro view. There are many debates going around the world about the effects of Vaasthu, but it is sure that no one refuses that the incumbents will enjoy very high value of comfort from a house, if it constructed as per Vaasthu.

Drainage shall not be there in any side of the plot
Any hill, sand hillock, or such high creatures on southern side of plot shall yield good effect
In opposite of a temple, durgah, church, etc house should not be constructed |

The plot shall be of rectangular shape; square shape is also preferred. If the plot is abut by streets/ roads on all the four sides, the goddess Lakshmi will shower all the goodness. |

The south and west side of plots shall be higher level; north and east sides shall be lower level; The open space shall be more in north and east sides; The plot shall contain good trees, |

If width of the street is larger or more than 22', it is normally good. It generally advised to avoid purchasing of plot located on the street having width of less than 20' and try to avoid plots on blind ended streets. |

There are two types of facing. Uchchasthan (good located +) and Neechasthan (Bad located -). Most of us may think that a 'therukkuththu' (Street facing) is a bad sign of plot and the plot will invite all the bad things to the plot and the house. Normally it is no correct, there are some good facing which shall not only invite and also direct the auspicious things to happen in the life. These facings are called as Uchchasthan facing. And the another one is as most of us think and is known as Neechasthan facing. These facings are pictorially explained hereunder. |

The location of entrance shall be in line with that of plot.

The preferred portico shall be in NE corner for east and north faced plots.
Whereas for south faced plots, it is SE corner and for west faced plots, it is NW.

| |
|
The best location for a drawing hall is North side and the next preferred location is East |

|
Pooja room |
| |
|
The best location for a Pooja room is NE corner of the building. The preferred one is east; Toilet should not be erected adjacent to this room; The statue or vigraha of god should face the east direction, the goddess can face south direction. Placing of gods facing west side to be avoided, however for any specific and special reason, for instance to get rid of problem, a vigraham of Sri Vinayaga can be placed at east side facing west direction. In no case gods should face north direction. |

Kitchen |

Best location for kitchen
The best location for a kitchen is SE and for south faced house the kitchen can be in NW corner; the next preferred location shall be North side; The kitchen shall not be constructed in west, south or south west side; There is no serious objection or adverse effect to have kitchen in NE or east side
Inside the kitchen
The stove/ oven platform shall have to be provided in East side and it should not touch the north side wall; Vessels shelf/ cupboard can be at South or west side, Grocery shelf can be at NW side; Fridge, grinder, mixie can be placed at west sides; sink to be at NE; light shaded colour is best suitable |

Dining hall |
| |
|
Dining hall can be placed at east, west or north side but it should be adjacent to kitchen. Drinking water pot can be at NE, wash basin at east, north or NE. |

Study room |
| |
|
Best location for study room shall be west, but there is no serious objection over this room at any other location
The bookshelf can be at east and north or even at west. Any portrait, preferably natural beauty, religious, great personality, great incident can be placed in the room. Very light shaded color is recommended for interior of this room |

Bedroom |
| |
|
The best location for bedroom is SW corner of building. The bedroom for junior members of family and guests shall be located at NW corner. The bedroom at other places not recommended. |

The good location for these rooms is east side. Toilet should not come NE corner of the house. Bathroom can be at east or north. It also can be at South and west side. But it has been advised by Vaasthu experts that the septic tank shall not placed at south or west side
Basically the occupant shall face the north direction while using these rooms. |
